The launch of the Tata Harrier.EV has stiffened competition in the electric vehicle segment. To stay strong in the fight, Mahindra has updated its BE6 and XEV 9e range in India. It has now announced the prices of the Pack TWO trim of these vehicles. The XEV 9e and BE6 come with two battery packs- 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The larger battery pack was earlier limited to just the Pack THREE. Now the carmaker has made it available on Pack TWO as well. All waiting customers will be given opportunities to upgrade. Their pricing makes these Mahindras with 79 kWh battery cheaper than the Harrier.EV variants with comparable kit levels! Deliveries of Pack TWO will commence towards the end of July.

The Real Impact

The actual impact of this variant rejig can be seen when you compare these to the Harrier.EV. Pack TWO of both the BE6 and XEV have now undercut the Fearless Plus and Empowered variants of the Harrier.EV in with their prices.

The BE6 Pack TWO is 49,000 rupees more affordable than the Fearless Plus 65 variant (priced at Rs 23.99 lakh, ex-showroom), and a whole 1.49 lakh less expensive than the Fearless Plus 75 variant which has an ex-showroom price of s 24.99 lakh. This variant reshuffle has thus widened the appeal of Mahindra's electric-origin SUVs, and made them more competitive.

On the specifications front, the Harrier.EV has a rear-mounted electric motor on the Fearless Plus and Empowered variants. It produces 238 hp and 315 Nm of torque. In comparison, the XEV and BE6 are more powerful - able to churn out 282 hp and 380 Nm together with the 79 kWh battery pack. Together with smaller unit, these produce 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. Clearly the Mahindra leads on this front.
